This was one of the tensest games for Caryn and I in recent memory.
And I have a ton of thoughts about The Boys after seeing them play in three games, including an unbelievable gutsy win on the road at Neyland, overcoming a biased officiating performance and the raucous home crowd.
But I will instead make only one point about the game.
In the mid-third quarter, Tenneessee quarterback Erik Ainge threw what appeared to be a touchdown pass of some 30 yards (the receiver was ruled down at the one under replay). In his jubilation, he elected to run over to the tiny section of Florida fans and start mocking the crowd with a taunting “Gator Chomp.” Laughing and gleeful, he chomped his arms at the crowd until collected by a team mate.
So, it’s not really taunting, is it, if you don’t win the game?
I would like to think that our guys rallied around his arrogant behavior, but the truth is, we were kicking their asses already.
See you next year, Vols.

PS. I think Ainge has the same kryptonite that Manning did- get around his feet and he just starts chucking it. Man do I miss Alex Brown sometimes (tho RayMac is my boy, too).
PPS. 2 INTs, 0 TDs. Still want to chomp, Erik? For the record, the last classy quarterback to go the Chomp-Taunt route was (Florida transfer) Miami’s Brock Berlin, who at least elected to wait til the Canes rallied in the Orange Bowl before following up his taunt with a throat-slash gesture. Berlin was last seen on an unemployment line in Miami.
