I have just been slammed with interviews and sunshine over the last two hours, trying like crazy to get this update out!
Worse, the battery of the PowerShot just ate it, and I’m begging the Bride to bring the mini-charger for it. So you’ll have to make do with the images I’ve already grabbed (some good ones!)
First of all, worth noting that 10 is keeping an Official List of seats 10 through 20 on line..

Also, the marketing angle is being really sold by dozens of clever entrepreneurs—from the usual Taiwanese cruft-vending hangers-on to free Vitamin Water to playing cards emblazoned with movie premieres, to this guy giving out science fiction pre-releases.

The Big News of the Hour has to be the Ed Baig (USA Today) appearance. This is meaningful because Ed is stalking the line and capturing reactions to his ACTUAL IPHONE.

Ed Baig flaunts his tech journalist credentials.
First, you’ll note I’ve changed shirts. This All your trophies are belong to us shirt I bought from the amazing Gator fans at Every Day Should Be Saturday deserves WAY more pub than it gets, as arguably the perfect intersection between Gator fandom and outright nerdcore.
Second. The Goods. Yes, I toyed with the iPhone for a couple of minutes, and Geoff used it for a few more (including the touch keypad). Baig’s basic deal was to get the campers’ reactions to the product with a dramatic reveal, and capture some honest initial thoughts on the phone.

The resolution on the device is outright astonishing, and the hardware is pretty peppy navigating around. I liked the feel and wanted to keep it! Geoff found the keyboard really difficult and is already harboring concerns about his love for the product being compromised on this count. (I write this off to Geoff’s habitual basketcase worry).
Of course, more interviews. I’m up to 22, if you count a market research survey, and made friends with Ms. Tania Menai.

The clouds are rolling in, and the energy-sapping sun (pictured below scouring the front of the line around 1pm) has retreated for a few minutes. We’re all praying that the rain misses us, anyway.
