iPhone: T+4 hours I

Posted Jun 29, 11:34 PM in Apple by Scott Conley

Let me tell what’s left of the six hours between my last post and the actual point-of-sale transaction I made around 6:10p.

First, we had the privilege of more visitors.

Angie Lee makes any event cooler.

With about six hours to go, the plaza security approached us with this wholly unpleasant request: to pack our chairs and other accoutrements and tighten up the front ranks. Apparently, there were some folks just arriving to the line (which was at this point somewhere near Madison and 60th, I hear) who were being inconvenienced by the lack of space. Now I don’t want to get off on a rant here, so I will simply suggest that there was plenty of space available to all on Wednesday night. After two days of alternating thunderstorms and sunstroke, we were in no mood to hear of the discomfort of those just showing up.

The compression was followed by another round of media work and visits, which I will distill to two interesting points. The first was a bit of deceit on my part, roping an unsuspecting media member into an interview with a fake “13th person in line,” actually a friend who we’d met over the past two days. We both had a great time with the interview, and she had a blast, so hopefully, nobody’s career is jeopardized with the zealous interest of a line fake!

The second interesting thing is just a guy in foil and a box.

Man wears a cardboard box for reasons unknown.

Geoff and I had both changed into our Friday Hawaiian shirts, part of the camp out program that was squeezed in at the last minute. As you can see with Angie, above, I looked great. I thought Geoff’s hat didn’t really go with his, though.

Geoff meets his fiftieth attractive female reporter.

The final relevant bit for me in this period was the fact that it was ultimately the shutdown of my liveblogging effort for a while, as we were frequently moving things around after this, and I wasn’t ever able to comfortably get the laptop/camera setup afterwards.

Next up: The short line and the purchase.

Note: I still haven’t showered, I have been so eager to get this out to those that have trafficked my thoughts with such enthusiasm. Apologies again for the delay.
